Routine Exams

Our Dental Exams provide a comprehensive evaluation of a patient's oral health, typically conducted every six months. During the exam, the dentist and dental hygienist assess the cleanliness of the teeth and gums, perform dental X-rays to detect hidden issues, examine each tooth's surface for signs of decay or damage, check the health of the gums, conduct an oral cancer screening, evaluate bite and jaw alignment, and discuss any concerns the patient may have. Based on the findings, Dr. DiPietro creates a personalized treatment plan and provides oral health education to maintain a healthy smile and prevent future dental problems. Regular routine dental exams are crucial for early detection, preventive care, and overall oral well-being.

Dental Fillings

Dr. DiPietro places tooth-colored restorations, also known as composite fillings, which are a popular type of dental restoration used to repair teeth affected by decay, cracks, or fractures. Unlike traditional amalgam fillings, tooth-colored restorations are made of a composite resin material that closely matches the natural color of the patient's teeth, providing a more aesthetically pleasing result. The process involves removing the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth, applying layers of composite resin, and shaping it to blend seamlessly with the surrounding teeth. Tooth-colored restorations offer a natural appearance, require less removal of healthy tooth structure, and bond well to the tooth, providing strength and durability.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic dental procedure aimed at lightening the color of teeth and removing stains or discoloration. It involves the use of bleaching agents, typically containing hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which break down and remove deep and surface stains on the enamel. Teeth whitening can be performed in a dental office by a professional or at home using dentist-prescribed kits. During in-office treatments, the dentist applies the whitening solution directly to the teeth and may use a special light or laser to enhance the whitening process. For at-home whitening, custom-made trays are filled with the bleaching gel and worn over the teeth for a specific period daily. Teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to achieve a brighter, more radiant smile, but results may vary depending on the cause and severity of the stains.

Fixed Bridgework

Fixed bridgework, also known as a dental bridge, is a restorative dental procedure used to replace one or more missing teeth. The bridge consists of prosthetic teeth (pontics) that fill the gap left by the missing teeth and dental crowns attached to the adjacent natural teeth or dental implants for support. The process involves preparing the neighboring teeth by removing some enamel to make room for the crowns, and then taking impressions to create a custom-made bridge. Once fabricated, the bridge is cemented or bonded into place, effectively "bridging" the gap and restoring the appearance, function, and alignment of the teeth. Fixed bridgework is a reliable and non-removable solution for missing teeth, providing patients with a natural-looking and stable dental restoration.

Nightguards

Dental office nightguards, also known as dental splints or occlusal guards, are custom-made oral appliances designed to protect the teeth and jaw during sleep. These nightguards are  fitted by Dr. DiPietro to individuals who suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding) or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders. Nightguards are typically made from a durable and flexible material that is comfortable to wear. When worn during sleep, they create a barrier between the upper and lower teeth, preventing the grinding and clenching forces from damaging the tooth enamel and reducing the strain on the jaw joints and muscles. Dental office nightguards are an effective solution to alleviate the symptoms associated with teeth grinding and TMJ disorders, promoting better sleep and preserving the long-term health of the teeth and oral structures.

Dental Hygiene

Dental hygienists are licensed oral health professionals who play a crucial role in dental care. Working alongside Dr. DiPietro, our dental hygienists focus on preventive dental procedures and patient education. They perform thorough teeth cleanings, removing plaque, tartar, and stains, as well as polishing the teeth for a smooth finish. The Dental hygienists also take dental X-rays, assess patients' oral health, screen for gum disease, and provide valuable insights and recommendations for maintaining optimal oral hygiene practices. Their expertise in educating patients on proper brushing, flossing techniques, and overall oral health empowers individuals to take charge of their dental well-being and prevent future dental issues.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted from high-quality dental porcelain that are designed to cover the front surface of teeth. These cosmetic dental restorations are used to improve the appearance of teeth that are discolored, stained, chipped, misaligned, or have gaps between them. The process of getting porcelain veneers involves removing a small amount of enamel from the front of the teeth to create space for the veneers, and then bonding the veneers securely to the teeth using dental adhesive. Once placed, porcelain veneers provide a natural-looking, durable, and long-lasting solution, enhancing the shape, color, and alignment of the teeth, and delivering a beautiful, radiant smile.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are advanced and durable tooth replacements used in restorative dentistry to replace missing teeth. Comprised of three parts—a titanium implant post, an abutment, and a dental crown—they mimic the structure and function of a natural tooth. The titanium implant post is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as the artificial tooth root and fusing with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration. The abutment connects the implant post to the dental crown, which is custom-made to match the surrounding teeth and securely attached to the abutment. Dental implants provide a long-term, permanent solution for missing teeth, restoring both aesthetics and function, allowing patients to chew, speak, and smile with confidence.

Partial and Complete Dentures

Partial and complete dentures are removable dental prosthetics used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Partial dentures are designed for patients who have some natural teeth remaining, while complete dentures are intended for individuals who have lost all of their teeth in one or both dental arches. Partial dentures consist of artificial teeth attached to a metal or acrylic base that matches the patient's gum color, and they are held in place with clasps or precision attachments that anchor onto the remaining natural teeth. Complete dentures, on the other hand, replace all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw and rely on the natural suction of the mouth or dental adhesive for retention. Both types of dentures help restore the ability to chew, speak, and smile, improving overall oral function and appearance for patients with missing teeth.
